Your statutory rights come first

Under EU law we are liable for any lack of conformity that exists when the goods are handed over to you and becomes apparent within two years of delivery. During the first year, a defect that appears is presumed to have been there from the start unless we can demonstrate otherwise — you do not have to prove it.

This is your legal right and it applies regardless of anything written below. Nothing on this page limits it.

What is covered

  • Manufacturing defects — anything assembled, cut or finished incorrectly
  • Material defects — stone that cracks or delaminates in normal use, wood that splits, leather that fails at a seam
  • Hardware failures — clips, fastenings and magnets that stop working as intended
  • Items that arrive damaged, incomplete or not as ordered

What is not covered

  • Normal wear from everyday use — surface marks, softening of leather, rounding of edges
  • Damage from misuse, accidents, or force beyond what an everyday accessory is designed for
  • Damage from prolonged soaking, extreme heat, or harsh solvents and cleaning agents
  • Variation in the colour, grain, veining, texture or pattern of the natural material
  • Changes in appearance that do not affect how the product works

Natural materials vary — this is not a defect

Our products are made from stone, wood and leather. These are natural materials, and no two pieces are identical: grain, colour, veining and pattern vary from item to item, and will differ from the photographs in the shop. Product photography is representative rather than an exact likeness of the piece you will receive.

This variation is an inherent property of the material and is not a fault. It is the whole point of the thing: your wallet is the only one with that pattern, and it will not be repeated. For the same reason, it is not grounds for a warranty claim.

Stone and wood also change with use. Surfaces gain a patina, edges soften slightly, and leather darkens and takes the shape of what you carry. This is expected, it happens to every piece, and it is a sign the material is doing what natural materials do — not a sign that something has gone wrong.

How to make a claim

Email info@seifdesign.eu with:

  • Your order number
  • A description of the problem and when it appeared
  • Photographs showing the issue
  • Your contact details

We aim to respond within three working days. Please do not send anything back before we have replied — we will tell you where to send it and how.

What happens next

Where a claim is valid, we will first repair the item or replace it, whichever is appropriate and proportionate. If neither is possible within a reasonable time, or repair or replacement would cause you significant inconvenience, you are entitled to a price reduction or to cancel the contract and receive a refund.

Repair and replacement under a valid claim are free of charge.

Return shipping

For a valid warranty claim, we pay the return shipping. Contact us first and we will arrange it or reimburse the cost.

This is different from returning an item because you changed your mind. In that case the 14-day right of withdrawal applies and you pay the return postage — see the Terms and Conditions and Shipping and Returns pages.

Looking after your piece

Stone

Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and let it dry fully. Avoid solvents, bleach and abrasive cleaners, which can dull the surface. The stone layer is thin and strong in normal use, but a hard impact on a corner can chip it — treat it as you would a phone.

Wood

Keep it dry and wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Do not soak it or leave it in direct sun for long periods, which can dry the grain and cause it to move. The colour will deepen over time; this is normal.

Leather

Wipe clean with a dry cloth. If it gets wet, let it dry naturally, away from direct heat. An occasional light application of a neutral leather conditioner keeps it supple. Leather darkens and softens with handling — that is the material aging well, not wearing out.

Aluminium

Wipe with a soft cloth. The anodised finish is hard-wearing but will pick up fine surface marks with use. Avoid abrasive pads and strong household cleaners.

Questions

If you are not sure whether something is covered, email info@seifdesign.eu and ask. We would rather look at a photograph and tell you than have you wonder.
